NPW Debut: Next Event '00

Background: Next Event 2000 will go down in history as the show which marked the "next phase" in NPW tag teams. The Tilton Tangler, who had previously made a name for himself in DCW as one of the Tilton Dirtlegs, crashed the party to help out Wild Bill in his match-up against Scotty Rawlins. The duo labeled themselves the Backyard Brawlers, and the once stale NPW tag team division was changed forever. The Brawlers first real success came at 2001: A Wrestling Odyssey when they defeated Ultimate for the NPW Tag Team Championship. They held their titles for 7 months, till the unfortunate interference of Treehugger & T-Money cost them the straps. Just as it seemed as if their successes had ended, their were soon crowned the new DCW Tag Team Champions when those belts found their way into Next Phase Wrestling. That December they unified the two championships, becoming the first ever All Vermilion County Tag Team Champions. The Backyard Brawlers soon turned on each other though, as the inclusion of Tangler's old DCW tag partner, Dirty Al, into the tag title picture ruffled Wild Bill's feathers. Tangler continued to wrestle with his old running mate in NPW but it was short-lived. The Tilton Tanlger, to this day, still strives to regain the status he once held in the tag team division, but only time will tell if he succeeds.
