7/14/02 Mick Gene
Yes! My first column on the newest and greatest Next Phase Wrestling website! The best part about this is I'll read this a year or two from now, realize how bad my writing was, but also get very nostalgic. I got the same way when I read my old columns on the DCW website (www.dcw.freehosting.net).

At the time I typed this (11:00am on Sunday 7/14/02), this evening is the next NPW show. I don't think we have a name for the show yet. We didn't have a name for the show prior to this one until minutes before the certain jerker. The card looks good on paper, featuring a 3-way DDT Title match between Zero, Crisis and "Sweet" Jimmy D. I've interviewed Zero and Jimmy, and both have agreed tonight's match will have both brawling and wrestling, much like late '97 and early '98 DCW. Hopefully the match will be just as fun, but a thousand times cleaner.

Primal Instinct Kurt Rigsby takes on Omega. According to Rigsby, he's looking forward to his chance to wrestle NPW's franchise player.

Super Tito Guerrero Jr. has been invited to face Wildkat. The former DCW tag team and Tilton champ said he's got big plans for this encounter with the former FUW tag team and Chico Santana Memorial champion.

Big Smith vs. El Tenedor has squash written all over it. I find it hard to believe NPW's toughest competator will have much trouble with the hapless fork.

Old School McGee and T-Money will take on this year's Tag Team Twister winners Yashi Torymoto and El Ninja. The momentum Yashi and Ninja carry with them into this match is mountainous. However, Old School's a former NPW tag champ and his partnership with T-Money saw them get pins over Dan Benson and Bruiser Dody last show.

And in the main event, Arnie Ambiguous defends the NPW Heavyweight Championship against the returning Alpha. The former Ultimate member didn't seem like himself on his return last show, but has had nearly a month to take all his phone calls and ingest all the headache medicine needed to gag a throat as cavernous as Bev's or Mindy's. Arnie's coming off a tough loss to Clepto at FUW's last show, which could give Alpha the edge he needs to realize his dream of becoming NPW champion.

I have unconfirmed reports that FUW's The Drake, our very own Wild Bill, Dan Benson and Bruiser Dody, and Clinton's Dare Devil and Jade Shocker will make the NPW show this evening.

In a quick look at the pros, I caught the 7/13/02 edition of WWF's Velocity last night and really enjoyed the Chavo Guerrero Jr./Billy Kidman match. Although Chavo worked Kidman's back (featuring a powerbomb on the guardrail and a slingshot that ricocheted Kidman back to Chavo's knees), Kidman came back and won with a top rope rana.

That's all for my first column. I'm looking to write once between every show. So look me up!
