![]() Next Phase's version of Wrestlemania is now part of our illustrious history, headlined by Big Smith becoming a 2-time NPW Champion, overcoming 13-month long title holder Wild Bill.
Wild Bill had interjected himself into half of Christmas Slay '03 before his big match, putting his main focus elsewhere while Big Smith showed as much intensity as he ever has. When Bill kicked out of the chokeslam, Smith could've gotten frustrated, but instead he kicked the intensity up 10 notches and won the belt in dramatic fashion.
One match Bill interfered in was the stretcher match, which saw Zero get his long awaited revenge on Wildkat. This one was a bloodfest and Zero has to be satisfied with the manner in which he disposed of Wildkat. Three scoop piledrivers will take care of anybody. This was a huge win for Zero and earns him a match against Big Smith for the NPW Championship next show.
It only took one scoop piledriver to rid NPW of Wayne Hewes II. This was like when 911 finally chokeslammed Fonzie. May Wayne enjoy his $1.25 polish sausages in that Producers Ball Park in the sky.
The other match Wild Bill was a factor in saw Dare Devil bounce back from his loss to Big Smith last month, getting a big win over the returning Arnie Ambiguous. As a result, Wild Bill will wrestle Arnie next show, and Dare Devil will get his rematch for the Unified Hardcore Championship.
The Shockers continue to mow through the tag team competition, as they put away former champions T-Money and Old School McGee. The Shockers will get their title shot against Dan Benson and Gumbo Boy next show, but remember that it was Benson who injured T-Money and Old School in the first place. Could Benson's path of pain continue with Wayne and Jade?
Sparky continues to impress, holding onto his NPW Unified Hardcore Championship and getting revenge on The Tilton Tangler at the same time. Tangler was not suspended for his abuse against referee Enrique or his language following his loss, but Schmemtner told me he may "conveniently forget" about Tangler for next show.
Oddly enough, both Treehugger and Tucker Clifton didn't make their bookings. Tucker I can almost understand because he hasn't wrestled in a long time and was risking injury going into his return match against DCW Champion Mars. Treehugger however would've had a rematch from this year's King of Extreme finals against El Ninja. So instead, Mars had El Ninja has his challenger. We all know what El Ninja did in the match. We've all made our comments on him for doing what he did. If you don't know, please ask because anyone who saw it would love to recap it for you. Next show Mars will wrestle pesky DCW alum Wildkat.
We ran out of tape before we could here from the Omega Men. We'll be sure to get that caught up next time.
We are having a vote to have or to not have the next show in January at the Brummet Arena. More on this as it develops.
Reporting for NPW News, I'm Mick Gene.
