 2/15/04 Mick Gene
First off, my hat's off to everyone who bared the cold and made Carnage in the
Cold '04 a fun evening.  On to my thoughts.

The main event wasn't the all out brawl it was billed to be.  All four
participants worked hard and made a valiant effort to deliver a main event
quality match.  But since it ended suddenly, the "epic" mystique was taken away.
All four guys could've and showed they wanted to fight some more.  It wasn't
caught on camera, but all four brawled to the back to close the show.  Dare
Devil was unable to show due to car trouble, therefore Big Smith's mystery
partner will forever remain just that.  As a result of the finish, Wildkat will
get a rematch with Arnie.  Big Smith will wrestle Wild Bill and Dare Devil in a
non-title triple threat to determine the number one contender.  Basically, which
ever challenger wins or doesn't lose will get Big Smith at Wrestling Revolution.
Yes, Big Smith really doesn't get rewarded if he wins, but it's hard to reward
someone who already has what everyone wants.

Zero and Mars did deliver the match we expected from them.  They spent a lot of
time on the ground showing off everything they know.  Few punches were thrown,
making this one a purest's dream.  You could say the finish came suddenly, but
that's the nature of the Peacemaker.  These two gave it all they had for 15+
minutes before the finish.  Mars' next opponent remain undetermined, but we do
know Zero will go after the NPW Unified Hardcore Championship at Unnatural
Disaster.

We saw a new dimension in Sparky at Carnage in the Cold '04: Adaptation.
Instead of suffering a weapon beating from the aggressive Gumbo Boy, Sparky
fought fire with fire.  Before, the champion had mostly been wrestling opponents
who weren't accustomed to using weapons themselves.  Gumbo forced it out of him.

"Longhorn" Dan Benson proved he can win a highly contested match with his win
over El Ninja.  His days as a comedic parody were over long ago and now he's
cemented his place as a real threat in the singles ranks as well as the tag.

That is all for now.  Since we've got over a month until Unnatural Disaster, I
will submit another update before the show.  Any Carnage in the Cold match I
didn't cover in this report, I will cover in my next.  And of course that means
more plugging our March showcase.

Reporting for NPW, I'm Mick Gene.
